We were on Little Island recently ~ A new sculptural open park island floating in the Hudson River off Manhattan. One hundred thirty-two concrete piles supporting “tulips” in unique shapes arise out of the river, a spectacular undulating phenomenon for viewers from shore. This new cluster of tiny islands is a recent project designed by the London-based Heatherwick studio. I posted about the Vessel in this New Year’s post, which is another significant project designed by their studio in New York City.
Today, I feel like writing on a wristwatch. It is a thing almost no one wears these days, yet it has been a notion inherent from my father. I remember his steely watch that he would wear every morning on his way out to work. A treasured piece that would tell him if it is the right time or not. Those were the days of No iPhone and Computer screens with a small digital time and date stamp to which you glued during work hours.
Really, I share a strange relationship with...umm...my Indoor Plants. Let me say it is stressful at times, but thriving at times. I wouldn't say I like too much of it, nor too little. Not to mention, if we maintain balance, keep going on water and sunshine, they and I will be evergreen. Ha! The point being, houseplants don't need to be sparse and tiny, but in a small apartment, they might want to be.
The holiday time of the year in NYC feels like a fantasy land. The cold, wintry air and an electrified ambiance are companions for delectable energy. Twinkling string lights, shiny building facades, and shimmering market shops adorn the cityscape. We celebrated the holidays this year by taking a few strolls in the city. We stopped by the Bronx zoo Holiday Lights, Bryant Park Winter Village, and Hudson Yards.
