Today, I feel like writing on a wristwatch. It is a thing almost no one wears these days, yet it has been a notion inherent from my father. I remember his steely watch that he would wear every morning on his way out to work. A treasured piece that would tell him if it is the right time or not. Those were the days of No iPhone and Computer screens with a small digital time and date stamp to which you glued during work hours.
Anyways, for my birthday this year, I got a wristwatch. In fact, it has been one of my only a few purchases this year. I don’t care if it tells me time or not; when I wear it, I can feel my father’s wisdom in my blood.
Of course, this is my only watch. Generally, I am not a collector of watches, and I don’t have a dresser full of these precious collectibles. I usually accessorize with jewelry, but I think having a clean, simple, pure watch is an excellent addition to my wardrobe. Immediately, as a sole possession, I envisioned including a leather strapped watch. And the one with a sturdy machine in gold and glass and visible cogs working within, turning, rotating, and moving with reliable exactitude. Something that could be a muted statement but complimenting my brass, gold jewelry. Another option I thought was going for a rose gold watch which is jewelry in itself is. Finally, I tabled a few possibilities, and Vikrant made the final surprise pick.
And, I am in high spirits. I reap time getting mesmerized watching the precision of its hands. Time has its own ebb and, in that, its beauty. Surely, it is there to see what happens next. As such, there is only ‘right now.’
